Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe it’s already 2016! There’s nothing like the new year to cause you to stop, look at your life, and make some changes. An estimated 44-50% of the US population makes New Year’s resolutions. And why not? It’s a new year, a new calendar, and the perfect opportunity for a new you. One study finds that the top five resolutions for 2016 are to:
- Enjoy life to the fullest
- Live a healthier lifestyle
- Lose weight
- Spend more time with family and friends
- Save more, spend less
Another recent survey asked respondents to list their 2016 priorities. Health and wellness far outscored financial stability, 44 percent to 29 percent. Trailing far behind were career/employment (13 percent), education (9 percent) and entertainment/leisure (5 percent).
As evidenced by study after study, living a healthier lifestyle, or wellness lifestyle is a goal for a large percentage of the population. The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) defines wellness as “an active process that promotes health and enhances quality of life.”
At Carlson Chiropractic Center, we’re all about wellness, and work hard to help our clients live their lives to the fullest. Chiropractic is one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available, and delivers a multitude of benefits including effective pain relief, restored freedom of movement, a correction of underlying problems, the ability to return to work and recreational activities, enhanced athletic performance, the prevention of spinal decay, and improved overall health. In fact, Chiropractic has been proven to help patients live a healthier, happier and more vibrant lives and a growing list of research proves that the services provided by Chiropractic physicians are both safe and effective.
Beyond our daily practice we’ve got an ongoing series of workshops to help our clients and the greater Joplin community live a true wellness lifestyle. In addition to information on food sensitivity testing, our Wellness Workshops explore a number of natural and holistic ways to better health. Dr. Mallory Province leads the classes and provides attendees with information on ways that dietary changes, lifestyle changes, chiropractic care, and supplementation can make a difference in their overall health. You can find out more about our classes HERE.
Now is the perfect time to start working towards living a wellness lifestyle, and we’re with you every step of the way. By making your resolutions realistic, there is a greater chance that you will keep them throughout the year, and of actually incorporating healthy behavior into your everyday life. We can help you create new measurable goals, and help you take the steps to reach them. The American Psychological Association recommends that you make resolutions that you think you can keep. If, for example, your aim is to exercise more frequently, schedule three or four days a week at the gym instead of seven. If you would like to eat healthier, try replacing dessert with something else you enjoy, like fruit, instead of seeing your diet as a form of punishment. Ultimately though, make sure you have plenty of support from friends and family. And if you feel overwhelmed or unable to meet your goals on your own, we’re standing by.
At Carlson Chiropractic Center, we are committed to bringing each of our patients better health, and a better way of life. If you want to know how chiropractic can make a difference in your health and overall wellbeing in 2016, give us a call today!
